Health and Water

By Clair L. Atwell

Hot water is, in reality, a "natural scavenger," but its virtues are scarcely known to enhance health. As a therapeutic agent it is almost without a peer, and yet it is so poorly utilized that it is practically a dead issue.

Chemists are burning the midnight oil in their laboratories searching for new weapons with which to fight some diseases, while hot, boiled water, which is one of the best antiseptics in existence, is almost ignored. There goes a great health benefit.

Free Shipping Free Samples at Spalook

It may be asked why it is not more extensively used and advocated? Especially if it is such an invaluable remedial agent. In the first place, its merits are not generally known.

In the second place, money, physicians who know of its value hesitate to prescribe it, for the reason that the majority of patients expect the doctor to prescribe drugs, and are disappointed if he does not.

There is a tendency on the part of the majority of people to bypass that which is near at hand and easily obtained, in favor of those things from the Pharma Group which are designated by mysterious titles, or are difficult to obtain. Maintaining health really affects your potential of gaining wealth.

Man has been so long accustomed to regard with an aura of awe on orthodox prescriptions, that he finds it difficult to dissociate from it the idea of power.

Returning to its uses. Hot water used as a stomach bath is a valuable auxiliary in the preservation and restoration of health. By its means the stomach is cleansed of mucous accumulations and particles of undigested food, thus enabling it to perform its functions satisfactorily.

Often the case undigested food remains in the stomach, it ferments, causing what is known as sour stomach, and is productive of many evils. If we keep the ferment out of the stomach by occasionally washing it, and prevent the generation of foul gases in the colon, by regularly flushing it, the bile will effectually prevent any fermentation in the intestines; and with the body in this cleanly condition, sickness is well-nigh impossible. Thus good health and the possibilities of lessening stress creates ones well being.

But there are external applications of water, which are equally important for the preservation of health, and first and foremost is the bath. It is a matter of authentic history that the most highly enlightened and prosperous people of the world have been celebrated for their devotion to the bath as a means of securing health and vigor as a means of curing disease, and preventing it, by promoting the activity of the skin.

The excavations at Pompeii show the devotion of the people to luxurious bathing. The Romans are famous to this day for the magnificence of their lavatories and the universal use of them by the rich and poor alike.

What a pity we cannot say as much for the people of our own country. Most people are familiar with the saying, "cleanliness is next to godliness," a statement that by implication relegates cleanliness to a second place.

When did you drink your last glass of hot water to cleanse your digestive track? Your choice was coffee or tea? Wrong. Milk perhaps! Close.

The Numerous Health Benefits of using a Sauna

By Jill Kane

Today people are more health conscious and some tend to be fitness freaks. There is a variety of health and fitness magazines as well as clinics offering expert advice on practically any and every symptom of ill health. One of the various ways touted to keep fit is the sauna. At times the advantages seem over estimated while some may actually be practically beneficial.

Go to Pool Click

Some of the benefits of saunas are that they appear to help in losing weight. This may be possible as during a sauna the heart rate increases resulting in the loss of calories. On the other hand, the heart is the only muscle working overtime while the other muscles are at rest. If the weight loss has to be a well rounded program, a session of regular exercise is desirable as this would help in building and toning the muscles of the whole body. The ideal way would be to combine the two by exercising first and then taking a sauna.

Another benefit that is cited is that saunas help to reduce the toxins in the body. This has been championed by the marketing sector but certain toxins like mercury and lead can be removed from the body only through infrared saunas. So the simple and traditional saunas have no scientific backing regarding the removal of toxins.

Saunas are also considered beneficial for reducing cholesterol. This too seems like another marketing gimmick. How can cholesterol which is directly related to the intake of diet be reduced only by a sauna without a change in the diet? Sounds far-fetched, and yet again there is no scientific proof to hold good this claim too.

Naturally, when you read such contradictory reports, one would actually believe that saunas are not all that beneficial and write them off completely. Let’s take a look at how a sauna actually affects our body. Firstly, a sauna increases the heart rate and hence the flow of blood to the skin increases which makes a person sweat profusely. It is highly beneficial for people suffering from sinus problems as the steam relieves the pain where the mucus has collected in pockets and this opens the nasal passages for free flow of mucus.

Those suffering from arthritis and rheumatism feel greatly relieved as the heat alleviates the joint pains. But, of course, this is a temporary relief as once the person is out in the open, the joint pains may recur. Athletes also find their muscles become more flexible due to the heat and a sauna helps them before working out.

The rightful claim of a sauna is that it is certainly a stress buster. At the end of a busy day, it helps to relax and induce deep sleep – a treat for the insomniacs and workaholics. It also helps patients to recover after an illness. Nevertheless, using saunas should be done with medical advice from the doctors in such cases. For normal people, it certainly has its advantages when taken from time to time.

Essential Oil Uses - A Users Guide

By Bryan Josling

The uses of essential oils were known to ancient Egyptians long before research began on their medicinal and aromatic qualities in the early nineteenth century. The sweet fragrance emitted by essential oils has had people going crazy on it for ages.

An essential oil is the extract of plant derived from flowers, stem, leaves, bark and other parts of a plant. The process is often complex and requires distillation through steam or water of the plant. The result is the pure essence of the plant, often in a highly concentrated form. In the following article we will list some of the common uses that essential oils are put to.

Free Shipping Free Samples at Spalook

Diffusion
Diffusion means breathing the fragrance of essential oil. The oil is evaporated using accessories such as electric diffusers, lamp rings, aromalamps, scentballs etc. These accessories are available in various assortments in the market. They operate by continuously shooting out microscopic particles of essential oils into the air. To facilitate easy assimilation through the sense of smell, the oil is broken into fine invisible mist. Diffusion helps create a relaxing atmosphere and loosens tight muscles.

Massage
The therapeutic effects of essential oil when combined with the magical powers of touch, revives the anatomy and furthers overall well-being. When using essential oil for the purpose of massage, it is advisable that it be diluted with carrier oil. It is too concentrated to be used neat. Different proportions need to be devised for people of different ages, skin types, etc. For children, the advisable content of essential oils per ounce is 6 drops. When shopping for massage oil, a person will come across a large collection of readymade aromatherapy massage oils & lotions. These may be purchased only from reputable vendors after checking the contents well.

Baths
An essential oil bath can be quite relaxing. Moreover, this will help in combining the benefits of hydrotherapy as well. Just add a few drops of your desired essential oil to your bathtub or spa, and get that rich and nourishing feeling. Alternatively, the essential oil mixed with good carrier oil be applied to ones skin after the morning shower for that all day long refreshing sensation. This keeps skin soft, smooth and youthful.

Steam inhalation
Steam inhalation is another prevalent method of using essential oils. 5 to 8 drops of essential oil of one variety or more is mixed in a pot of hot water, and the user sits with his face close to the pot, eyes closed and about 10-12 inches above the pot. As vapour rises, it gets absorbed by the minute pores on ones face and through the nostrils. A humidifier too can be used by adding a few drops of essential oil in it.

Household uses
You may not know but the essential oils can be put to several household uses as well. Like when one is doing laundry, a few drops of essential oil will give the clothes a lovable smell all day long. Lemon or tea tree oils are best used for ones garbage cans from giving that stinking smell. Lavender has long been associated with romantic evenings. So, use it in your bathroom along with essential oils of chamomile and marjoram.

The uses of essential oils are many. One can experiment on his own to find new uses of the oils and thereby contribute to the already spilling research works on the subject.

Bryan Josling is working with the Horticultural Research Station in Adelaide. He has also been involved with research on plants. To find Aromatherapy essential oils, essential massage oils, essential oils wholesale visit http://www.ndaroma.com/.

Aromatherapy Diffusers - Top Tips

By Toby Russell

In learning to use an aromatherapy diffuser it is important to first understand the theory behind diffusion. This is the process of dispersing essential oils so that the aroma will fill an area with fragrance. There are many different techniques that can be utilized for this purpose. While simple methods do exist for diffusing essential oils in a room without using a special tool, there are also many different aromatherapy diffuser devices that can be used for more elaborate diffusion.

Free Shipping Free Samples at Spalook

One of the easiest aromatherapy diffusers to utilize is simple facial tissue. By placing a few drops of essential oil of your choice on a tissue and then placing it in the room, you can quickly and easily create a wonderful fragrance in your environment. It should be noted that while this method is very easy to use and be used practically anywhere, this method will only emit a slight amount of fragrance. If you want something more noticeable, it will be necessary to utilize a more elaborate aromatherapy diffuser.

A steam aromatherapy diffuser can also be utilized place a couple of cups of boiled water and adding several drops of the essential oil of your choice into the water. This method can be used for a variety of purposes, such as freshening a room or treating a cold. There are some disadvantages to this method; however. For example, while the aroma is diffused quickly, it does not last particularly long.

Candles also prove to be wonderful aromatherapy diffusers. For this technique any candle will work. Simply light it and allow it to burn for a few minutes and then extinguish it. Place a single drop of essential oil on the melted wax and light the candle once again. The only problem with this method is that you must be extremely careful because essential oils are flammable. You must make sure the oil is placed on the wax and not the wick of the candle.

There are also numerous aromatherapy diffuser products currently on the market that are quite safe and provide long lasting fragrance. One of the best aromatherapy diffuser products currently on the market are lamp rings. These rings can be placed directly on a light bulb to hold essential oil. The heat from the light bulb will heat the oil and diffuse the scent into the room.

Candle aromatherapy diffusers are another inexpensive diffusion option that can offer a nice scent in practically any location. Due to the fact that they do utilize candles; however, caution should be exercised.

A nebulizer is also a good choice if you are looking for an aromatherapy diffuser that will provide a lot of therapeutic benefit in a small space.

Toby Russell brings through his site http://www.benefitwitharomatherapy.com/ useful, relevant help & advice for those seeking a better understanding of the health benefits of the use of essential oils and aromatherapy.

Appreciating Essential Oils From A Wine Perspective

By Mario J Vitale

I spent 30 years, my whole adult life up to this point, in the wine industry. I owned a retail store and, over the course of those 30 years, tasted and smelled literally thousands of wines. Of the many aspects of wine that I found fascinating, I think the most interesting is how wines change over time.

Free Shipping Free Samples at Spalook

Young wines are brash and exuberant. The nose of a young wine is redolent with bright ripe fruit, oak if there is any, and, if it's a truly great wine, a few other nuances to add interest. As a wine ages, the primary aromas of fresh fruit give way to the secondary, or what is known as tertiary aromas. At this stage the fruit aromas are replaced by non-fruit aromas, ie. earth, truffle, forest floor, and spice. Whereas in a young wine, the aromas are compartmentalized and separate, in a mature wine the aromas are far more interesting and meld into a seamless and complex bouquet.

So, you are probably thinking, what does this have to do with essential oils? I've come to learn that essential oil blends evolve in much the same way wine does. My wife has been experimenting with essential oils for many years and has developed a number of blends that she uses in her line of body care products. The process of blending oils is a combination of art and science and takes years to master. The synergy of a successful blend is far more compelling than any one essential oil alone.

Today, she let me smell a "green" or new blend that she had just created and had me compare its aroma to the same blend that had aged for about one year. The difference was startling. The new blend had the segmented aspect of a young wine with each essential oil's particular scent distinct and separate from the other. In the year old blend the different scents had melded into a very complex bouquet where no one scent dominated the other. Instead, they were seamlessly intertwined to create a scent where the whole was greater than the sum of the parts.

I now have a much greater appreciation for the expertise involved in the blending of these precious oils. It has also allowed me to use the knowledge I gained from the many years I've spent with my nose stuck in a wineglass to assist her in identifying the many nuances that a successful essential oil blend creates. Wine tasting and blending essential oils are both acquired skills that take many years to perfect and the combinations are limitless. As with both, the lesson is simple. The more you learn the more you realize how little you know. But the journey, along with the opportunity for discovery, is the best part.

Mario Vitale spent 30 years in the fine wine business in Cleveland, Ohio and established one of the most successful retail wine businesses in the state. His business, Western Reserve Wines, was voted Best Wine Shop in Cleveland, and his clientele came from across the country. He sold the business in 2006 to join his wife in her skin care business and moved to Tucson, Arizona.

Home Sauna Advantages

By Pertti Olavi Jalasjaa

Many people first discover the joy of sauna bathing in a spa or a health club. Others may be introduced to the pleasures of the sauna by friends who already own their own traditional Finnish or far infrared sauna. However a person may experience a sauna bath for the first time and however wonderfully relaxing or invigorating that experience may be, it simply does not compare with the delight of being a home sauna owner.

Go to Pool Click

With a commercial sauna or a residential sauna that belongs to a friend, you can never be sure of its availability, what other people have been using it, how clean the sauna is, or how properly it is being maintained. You also have only so much control over the sauna’s temperature, supplies and accessories.

If the sauna belongs to you, however, you can be in complete control of its operation, and you have access to it 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You don’t need to worry about who may have been in the sauna before you, not being able to sit or lay down where you want, or rules about what to wear or not wear in the sauna. It’s your sauna, so you can do with it just about whatever you wish.

In addition to control, two other great reasons to buy a home sauna are privacy and convenience. Public saunas may offer some good opportunities to socialize, but there’s never any guarantee that you’ll find complete peace, quiet and undisturbed alone time in a sauna that’s not your own. As for the positive social aspects of communal bathing, there’s nothing stopping you from hosting a sauna party at your place whenever you feel the need for fellowship. But when it’s two o’clock in the morning and you feel like soaking solo, your own home sauna is pretty much your only – and best – option.

Monetary cost is another important factor to consider. Certainly the initial expense of buying a home sauna can be significant, but the increasing number of sauna manufacturers and sauna dealers has resulted in more affordable prices on home saunas and sauna kits. Besides, imagine what it would end up costing you in membership fees and gas expenses to make use of the sauna at the nearest spa or gym on a daily basis for, say, the next 20 years. Now think how much easier and cheaper it would be just to walk a few steps into your bathroom, basement or backyard to utilize your personal sauna.

Perhaps the most important consideration of all is the many health benefits associated with regular sauna use. Increased cardiovascular strength, improved lung function, stress and headache relief, and alleviation of muscle stiffness and joint pain are just some of the positive health outcomes reported in medical studies that have examined the merits of sauna therapy. Given these findings, it seems logical that a home sauna owner would have the advantage over a gym or spa patron, as the sauna owner has fewer obstacles and deterrents to accessing the sauna on a consistent basis and, in turn, reaping the rewards of its use.

Today’s home saunas can be found in many styles and sizes. Available as permanent installations or portable devices, they can also vary significantly in how they operate. The far infrared sauna, for example, functions quite differently than the traditional Finnish dry sauna.

Prospective home sauna buyers would be wise to assess their individual needs and expectations and then conduct the necessary product research and analysis before making any final purchasing decisions. If you shop for, select, purchase and accessorize your home sauna with the appropriate amount of knowledge and confidence, you are almost guaranteed to know the tremendous delight of being a happy and satisfied home sauna owner.

Pertti Olavi Jalasjaa is the Finnish-born author of “The Art of Sauna Building,” an acclaimed reference book on sauna construction. He is also the general manager of Great Saunas, which has been manufacturing and selling high-quality saunas and sauna kits to sauna enthusiasts around the world since 1974. Foot Spa Detoxification, Based on the Work of Dr. Rife

By Alister Bredee

Royal Raymond Rife was, perhaps, the greatest medical scientist of the twentieth century and yet, sadly, very few people have ever heard of him. He died of alcoholism in obscurity in 1971. Royal Rife was the inventor of the “Dark Field Microscope” and this he did in the 1920s. His “Universal Microscope”, magnified objects 60,000 times, and this made him the first man in history to view a living virus. Ironically most of today’s scientists using powerful electron microscopes are viewing dead bio-organisms, because the powerful electric field of their equipment kills the virus. Rife, a brilliant inventor was the “Father of Electronic Medicine”, which he used very successfully to treat cancer patients in his clinic in San Diego in the 1930s.He suggested cancer was a virus and was able to facilitate cures by killing the virus with an electronic frequency generator.

Aqua Detox treatment is based on equipment developed by Royal Raymond Rife in his hey-day back in the 1930s. It has however been updated to take into account more recent technology, by naturopath and homeopath Mary Staggs. Rife found, as we see with increasing frequency today, that toxins assault the body, and it seems the number of these are rising at an alarming rate. These poisons cannot be excreted effectively; as they build up they cause electrolyte imbalances within the cells. This accumulation prevents them from absorbing nutrients and effectively getting rid of waste. Iranian Doctor F. Batmanghelidj in his book: “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water” stresses the problem is further aggravated because most people drink far too little water. Thus dehydration and toxicity are the root cause of most of the congestive and degenerative diseases prevalent today.

“The Aqua Detox” foot-spa treatment requires the feet to be placed in a salt-water solution, as this is a good medium in which to produce an electric charge. The feet are selected as they contain over 2,000 pores. They are the end point of the lymph system and let’s not forget the entire blood supply passes through the feet given sufficient time. In more complex cases the “Aqua Detox” equipment, comprising two spiral shaped electrodes can similarly be introduced into a bath for full immersion. The electrodes produce a charge that resonates around the whole body, this balances the cells, and at the same time facilitates the release of toxins.

The treatment seems to re-balance the body’s energetic field and improves oxygen and other nutrients to the tissue. The client comes away with a spring in her step, usually reporting a feeling of overall well-being. GDV or “Gas Discharge Visualisation” photography shows a definite improvement in the client’s energy field when before and after shots are compared. There is however a warning. This type of treatment should not be used by people with pacemakers, if they are epileptic or pregnant. But reports are more than encouraging for everybody else.

Spa Supply: Helping You Unwind At Home

By Ian W Anderson

We’ve heard it so many times from all walks of life; Americans are over worked, over stressed and much deserving of a refreshing break. And we all know that one of the best and most popular ways to relieve stress and tension is a visit to the local day spa or better yet a week-long stay at a luxury spa resort. But, unfortunately, all of that rest and relaxation takes time and money. So, what can you do to unwind if you find that you are lacking in both of these precious commodities?

Free Shipping Free Samples at Spalook

The answer might be as easy as creating your very own spa experience at home with inexpensive products purchased from your local or online spa supply. With products like facial masks, foot massagers and exfoliating body creams at your disposal, you will have no need to shell out money for a masseuse or to cover travel expenses. All you will have to do to get all of the pampering and luxury that you need is delve into your private spa supply collection.

While you won’t need a lot of products to make your home spa experience as luxurious as its more expensive counterparts, there are a few products that every home spa supply should include. Here is a brief look at just a few of the products that you will want to have on hand:

* Massaging foot bath - When you come home from a long day’s work it seems like everything is aching, especially your feet. So, why not come home to your very own foot spa? Many of these spas come with heat and massage features and can do wonders for aching joints and weary feet. And the best part is that you can purchase one of these babies for as little as $25.

* Paraffin wax system - These home systems are also very inexpensive and are great for people with arthritis. The warm wax relieves aches and inflammation in the hands and feet and leaves skin supple, smooth and soft. Also great for people with dry, cracked or chapped skin. The system costs around $40.

* Facial sauna - With a home facial sauna you can steam away the impurities of your skin just like the pros do. Combine this product with your favorite cleansers, toners and moisturizers to create the perfect salon experience at home. You can purchase one of these for about $45.

* Hot oil manicure set - This is the ultimate luxury and will leave your hands and nails feeling and looking great. The soothing heated oil will help repair damaged and dry nail cuticles and will also help condition and strengthen your nails. These are hard to find, but can be purchased for around $30 at most beauty supply stores.

In addition to all of these great spa supply ideas, you might want to consider inexpensive massage oils and creams. Aromatherapy bath gels and lotions also do wonders for a tired and weary body.

You see, it only takes a little bit of money to have the spa experience of your life. And the best part about having your very own spa supply at home is that there’s no commute and the spa is always open for business.

Spa Treatments and Skin Care Care That Your Body, Mind and Soul Deserve

By David Maillie

A spa treatment is often labeled as ‘a great way of pampering the body’; however, considering the great burden of these stressful times, going for spa treatments is a necessity they are on every stars healthcare and appearance plan. From Jessica Simpson to Halle Berry, Jodi Foster, Oprah, etc... These are the most highly sought after treatments and women are shelling out thousands for this 'fountain of youth.' The body, soul and mind very well deserve these spa treatment indulgences. In fact, a holistic spa treatment is a complete invigorating experience that revitalizes the mind and soul while stimulating body’s self-healing mechanism and should be used by everyone atleast once a year.

browse thousands of global tours and activities

Therapeutic massages and face / body treatments are some of the basic services that the spas offer. Modern day spas have developed different types of massages – Aromatherapy, Ayurvedic massage, deep tissue massage, lymphatic drainage massage, Neuromuscular therapy, Shiatsu and many more. These ancient techniques of rejuvenating the entire system by caressing the skin and kneading the muscles is performed by licensed therapists with extreme care. Remember! Each massage has its typical utility.

The spa treatment services for your facial and body skin involve deep cleansing, exfoliating, massaging, toning and moisturizing. These treatments remove the damaged epidermal layers to reveal younger, healthier-looking skin. Both facials and body treatments, cleanse the deep-seated impurities, stimulate blood circulation and hydrate the skin surface.

In general, spas prefer non-chemical and non-invasive procedures like Oxygen therapy, Photo facial, Vitamin peels, homemade oilbaths, skin peels and indigenous body scrubs. However, now that the effectiveness and harmlessness of TCA peels (the most prescribed skin peels by dermatologists and plastic surgeons) have been certified and proven to be the most effective, many spas are using these peels for treating skin problems. Equally effective at home as in spas, the TCA peels work real fast removing your dead skin, enhancing blood circulation and aiding the process of the re-growth of collagen and elastin. Basically, the tca peel is the single most effective and least invasive treatment on the market.

Considering TCA peel your “at-home spa treatment” will be no exaggeration, especially if you consider the lasting results it produces – changing your lusterless, dead hide for a more glamorous, youthful covering. Remember, the TCA treatment promises you emotional indulgence at a cost-effective rate.

TCA peels are on every hollywood stars skin rejuvenation program and they should be on yours also. There's no luck in the glowing skin of the celebrities at the Oscars - its simple - spa treatments and TCA peels. It is also interesting to note that TCA peels are one of the most effective treatments for acne and wrinkles in current use.

Mmm....a relaxing spa day!

Home Spas: How Affordable Are They?

By Ian W Anderson

If you’re like most, you dream of one day coming home to your very own spa. You envision a world where you can leave the stressors of the day far behind and relax in peace and contentment until the telephone rings or the kids demand their dinner. Well, what can I say? Reality has a way of creeping into every dream.
Free Shipping Free Samples at Spalook
As you can imagine, home spas can be found with a wide range of prices and options. A basic spa will cost you about $2,000, but you could easily spend $6,000 or more on a spa with extra features. If you want a spa that will clean itself and be warm and ready when you get home, you can expect to spend an additional $1,000 to $3,000 for the remote control system that will make it possible.

If you think you can’t afford price tags like these, never fear! You can finance it. Right now, it is possible to finance a spa for as little as $50 to $100 a month. Of course, you could spend a great deal more than that if you purchase the more expensive model. But if price is of major concern, keep in mind that an inexpensive spa will likely be just as relaxing as an expensive one. You should also consider the fact that you could get a lot of features with a more expensive model that you may never use.

Other financial concerns about owning a spa deal with maintenance and the cost of upkeep. Granted, owning a spa means that you will have to keep a ready stock of chemicals. But if you keep up with keeping your spa clean and checking the chemical levels, you will only need to use a minimal amount of chemical to keep everything in tip top shape. In fact, you can get a complete spa chemical starter kit complete with testing supplies for about $40.

Another area where you will need to spend money if you buy a home spa is on spa equipment. Again, these purchases will be minimal and can be spread out over the course of time. $20 here and $20 there will help you build up your spa equipment inventory in no time. You can also save money here by opting for manual tools instead of automated tools.

You can expect energy costs of about $7 per week for an average sized spa if you use your home spa for an hour each day. You can reduce these costs by using a spa cover or thermal cover and by only using the jets when you are in the spa. Reducing the temperature setting by 3 degrees also adds up to a great deal of savings.

The bottom line is this: You could realistically have a spa for $100 to $125 per month if you don’t have any money saved right now. If financing isn’t an option, you can quickly and easily save up for your dream spa. Simply put back $50 per week and you could be sitting pretty in your home spa this time next year.

Homemade Spa Treatment: Rejuvenate Your Skin With Essential Oils and Homemade Spa!

By Ashley Green

Is your skin feeling tired? Rejuvenate it with a home made spa. The soft glow of lavender-scented candles. A gentle whiff of roses, settling lazily into the room. Ahhh! The pleasure of a warm, relaxing bath after a long, stressful day! Pamper yourself with a luxurious homemade spa. We tell you how!

Choice is yours: Before you get all excited at the prospect, know why you want it. All your decisions from oil selection to mood setting depend on it. A massage done in a relaxed settling will make you smile.

Soft and Relaxing: Creating the right ambience is half the work done when it comes to relaxation. choose a comfortable but warm place for a self-massage. Be sure that you are not sitting directly on ground. A massage makes your body warm. Sitting on a cold floor( even in summers) is not recommended. Masseurs also believe that all your positive energies escape if you are in direct contact with the floor. Now dim the lights and avoid white light. Light scented candles at places around the massage area.

You can play up candles and aromatic oils. Lavender is great favorite to relax.

Place neat bunches of your favorite flowers all around the room. "Complete the look with soft, music playing in the background.

Keep Handy: Prepare everything you need in advance so that there is no last-minute rush. Mix your essential oil with water and use a slow burner to keep it warm. If you are planning a tub bath to end the massage, choose aromatic bath salts to pamper yourself further. Fill the bath with hot water just after the massage. Add the bath salts and a few drops of a heady essential oil.

Sandalwood is all-time favorite. Keep a scrubber handy to work on dead skin.

Work on your body: Start your self-massage with oil. You can use any body oil or a cream lotion like Ayur's Aloe Vera massage cream, which has moisturizing properties and seeps into your skin to make it soft and supple. Rub it all over your body. Massage each of the reachable body parts one by one. The movement of the hand should be in concentric circles which refresh you by making the flow of the blood easier.

Warm gushes: After you have given yourself a moisturizing massage, start with the warm bath. While your bath tub fills with warm water, massage exfoliating sea salts on your body in a quick-motion scrub. Now immerse yourself in the tub. Add a couple of drops of essential oil and just ENJOY!

Random Tip for Rosy Glow: Boil fresh rose petals and use this rose water instead of plain water for your skin treatments. Prepare a rose facemask by grinding a handful of petals into a paste. Apply on clean skin and leave the application on for 15 minutes. Then wash and watch your complexion glow.

Radiator Towel Heaters

By Shelley Murphy

Radiator Towel Heaters

Inspiring designs, a source of warmth and comfort, what has become one the fastest growing trends within the bathroom remodeling industry are radiator towel heaters. Radiant bathroom towel heaters provide practical luxury along with the comforting advantages after a bath or shower when you wrap yourself in a balmy towel to ease the burden of winter chills.

Free Shipping Free Samples at Spalook

Health Benefits of Towel Warmers

When it comes to heating the bathroom, homeowners are drawn to the radiator style towel heaters, compared to forced air systems, they are far more cost efficient and economical. From a health standpoint, electric and hydronic radiator towel heaters prevent the constant flow of dust particles in the atmosphere since they are not forced air units they improve the air quality especially for anyone who suffers from either dust allergies or asthma. The heated towel rails provide ample heat alleviating a breeding ground for germs to multiply not to mention the added benefit of not having change filters or clean heat ducts.

At a recent Interior Design show where a number of traditional and contemporary radiator style towel warmers were showcased, a medical expert was on-hand to explain how heated towel rails can actually improve your health by eliminating dust mites that live in our homes, and since dust mites love a warm moist environment, towel heaters aid in maintaining a consistent room temperature and keep it moisture free. He went on to say, apart from dust allergens, mold and mildew are also caused from excessive moisture especially in bathrooms with insufficient ventilation, by placing a hydronic or electric radiator towel rack in the bathroom can help combat the spread of germs for only pennies a day.

The difference between electric towel rail warmers and hydronic radiator towel heaters are that electric heaters operate independently of the home’s heating systems and are simply plugged in to any electrical outlet. Hydronic towels warmers run off the home’s main hot water supply with the need for a circulating pump to force the hot water through the towel rails, keeping in mind they will only function when the main home heating system is operating.

Not Just for the Bathroom

Not just for the bathrooms anymore, heated towel rails serve a purpose all year round. For anyone who owns a swimming pool or outdoor whirlpool hot tub, electric towel heaters can be ported to change room areas to dry wet towels and swimsuits quickly and economically without having to turn on the household dryer. In the winter months they can be placed in mudrooms to dry winter garments or warm blankets and also great for added warmth in basements and help to control the dampness where it is most apparent.

Not only flexible in their use, radiator towel rails provide a hint of elegance and sophistication in any bathroom or living space in your home. With a vast array of unique designs from coiled chrome to straight white ladder rails, available in contemporary and traditional styles and sizes, finding a towel warmer to suit your lifestyle and taste is easily achieved. Economical, fashionable and provide ongoing health benefits, towel warmers have become one of the most coveted items for the bathroom right on through to the bedroom. If you want to cut heating costs, spend less time dusting and not having to continually do laundry, hydronic and electric radiator towel rails can free up time and are easy on the wallet.

Day Spas: Pampering Without the Time Commitment

By Ian W Anderson

There is no doubt about it; we live in a hectic society that does not show any signs of slowing pace any time soon. To relive some of the stress associated with always being on the go, many people have turned to spas to help them melt away the worries of the world. But what if you don’t have thousands of dollars and a full week to devote to becoming one with yourself and nature? The answer could be as simple as day spas.

Save up to 60% Worldwide Hotel booking

Day spas are a relatively new phenomenon. In the early 80s, there were only a handful of day spas scattered across the United States. In those days, if you wanted spa luxury, you had to foot the bill and make the time commitment. As you can imagine, this severely limited the spa customer base to the privileged.

Today, there are thousands of day spas, and you can find one in almost every community. Day spas are different from their luxury spa counterparts in that customers have the option of visiting for an entire day, a half day or just an hour or two. There are no overnight stays and no week-long package commitments. In a day spa, you can get premium services just like those found in the traditional spas, but for a lot less time and money.

So, what types of services can you get in a day spa? Virtually everything from facials, massage, body wraps, sunless tanning, pedicures, manicures, electrolysis, hair services, make-up applications, hair color, lunch... you name it.

Here’s a brief look at some popular day spa packages:

* $125 to $175 will get you three-hour classic salon/spa experience including manicure with paraffin treatment, pedicure, scalp treatment, shampoo and styling, massage or mini-facial.

* $75 to $100 will get you a two-hour body treatment with exfoliation, massage and steam bath

* For $300 to $500, you can get pampered for the whole day and choose from a host of services. You will also be served meals during your day-long stay.

And don’t think that day spas skimp on luxury. Many spas offer limousine services and treat their clients like they are royalty no matter what walk of life they come from. For this reason, day spa gift certificates have become extremely popular gifts. When you give a day spa gift certificate, you are giving a luxurious gift of indulgence to your loved one. What better way is there to say that they’ve worked hard and deserve a little bit of the finer things in life?

When choosing a day spa, keep in mind that different spas offer different services. In many cases, day spas are ran in conjunction with a full-service beauty salon. That means that you can choose from a wide variety of services. Other day spas, though, may only offer massage and skin-care services without offering hair and nail services. You should also shop around. Prices from spa to spa can vary considerably.

So, if you want to be pampered but have little money and even less time, perhaps a day spa is the perfect compromise that you’ve been looking for. But be forewarned, day spas can be addictive.

Aquatic Bath Tubs - More Than Just a Dip

By Claire Bowes

Bathing is an important part of a decent living. For thousands of years, various cultures and societies have given attention and significance to the experience.

Nothing compares however to the experience of soaking in an aquatic bathtub after a long day. It is a perfect combination of luxury and quality, of leisure bath and healthy water immersion.

Go to Pool Click

What Is an Aquatic Bathtub?

The aquatic bathtub provides for a more relaxing and soothing experience than any ordinary tub out there. It is like having your own spa in the comforts of your home. It is all about hydrotherapy.

What Is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is one method of treating a disease through the use of water. It is deemed to be used by ancient Greek doctors.

This method is more commonly known now as the spa therapy. They are very popular now.

Hydrotherapy or spa treatment can be used to address various problems. The warm water can relax spasm, very useful in alleviating sprains, muscle sprains, fatigue and backache.

Sitting in hot water alone, or a sitz bath, is effective in treating swollen hemorrhoids.

Physiotherapy is another area that makes use of water. The buoyancy of water allows an ailing limb or strained muscle to be moved or exercised, as there is less pull of gravity when immersed in a tub of water.

What Is a Whirlpool Bath?

Whirlpool is a special feature in most bathtubs to have an effective hydrotherapy experience. It is water spinning in a circular motion around a central area. Heat is used together with this whirlpool bath, to effect a stimulating treatment or massage in an aquatic bath.

Additional Features to Consider

In deciding over an aquatic bathtub, there are hundreds of selections to choose from, with more than 1,500 distributors worldwide. There are premium designs that come with many luxurious features. There are the economical ones that will provide the basic needs of a spa treatment.

1. Two-Person Bathtub
A roomy bathtub will definitely spell comfort. Spacious bathing will dispense with unnecessary adjustments.

2. Support Features
Seek an aquatic bathtub that has raised seats, arm rests and lumbar support. These features should be secured to enjoy a long soak.

3. Neck Pillows
Neck jet pillows and shiatsu back jet system are some of the most sought-after features. Hydrotherapy jets are installed to provide also the ultimate massage experience.

4. Lighting
Chromatherapy lighting will add more than to the aesthetics. This is a desirable bonus to the hydrotherapeutic experience.

5. Continuous Waterfall
This adds to a peaceful ambience as one rests in a relaxing bath. The sound makes the bathing the ultimate calming experience.

6. Remote Control
Since this bath is about relaxation, some manufacturers have already provided for floating remote control. Any features of the aquatic tub can be turned off and on without having to move from the relaxed stature.

The selection provides a wide range of style and sizes. The features are made even more user-friendly now. Anyone can configure the features to focus on a specific area of discomfort.

With these features to watch out for, getting an aquatic bathtub is really a must. It is like having a hot spring in the confines of the household. Anyone can take a dip, any time of the day.

Just do not miss out on the aquatic bathtub experience. Whatever it is that may be discerned by the budget and by the desires, make sure to get one. Get a quality one, in keeping with the true hydrotherapy purpose of getting more than just a dip.
