Aromatherapy oils can be used in conjunction with an aromatherapy diffuser for improving the fragrance of the air in any room of your home or office. Spas can be a great addition to any home and unless you have your spa out on an open deck it will often times require some type of enclosure for privacy and also for safety if there are children in the home. For the most part, although there are exceptions, a spa enclosure will consist of some type of decorative wooden framework and often resemble the decor of a common gazebo.

While at first glance they can look easy to build they do require some basic know-how and basic carpentry skills. Making sure that you use the correct type of wood for its construction can make all of the difference in the world if you plan on the end results to be attractive and long lasting. 4X8 foot redwood lattice panels work great for creating a screening effect in a spa enclosure but they must be framed in properly or they will begin to fall apart in a relatively short time.
Regular construction grade Douglas Fir does not work well as a material for exterior exposed construction as it will warp and crack when it is exposed to the weather. Himalayan Fir works great for building outdoor decorative structures and this is the type of wood that you will see on the barges and fascias of homes for just this very reason.
People will often gravitate to solid brass screws when building an outdoor decorative structure only to find out the hard way that while they are completely resistant to rust they are inherently weak and don't work well at all for heavy construction. If you are determined to screw your enclosure together than nice galvanized wood screws or heavy brass plated steel screws work best. Also, try to pre-paint as much of the wood as you can while you are building your spa enclosure, because it is so much easier to paint wood laid out on saw horses then after it has been added to a structure.

Aromatherapy Candles
Aromatherapy Candles - Great For Bath Time!

I don't know about you, but I find that my days are a constant whirl of activity, with very little "me" time these days, which is not what I anticipated. I had this rather naive idea that as my daughters grew older and needed less help from me, I would find that I had time on my hands to do whatever I liked whenever I wanted!

My friends all asked what I would do with all my "free" time once my daughters left high school. They seemed to think I would be lost with nothing to occupy my time. Well, now I seem to be busier than ever, and the days just fly by. But what I have discovered is that "me" time is very important, and yes, it does mean I have less time in a day for everything else, but I am more focused during that time.
So, what do I use my "me" time for? I have re-found the pleasure of baths. For years, I have showered daily, but never even thought about taking a bath just because it takes so much longer than taking a shower. I have, of course, read many times, that taking a bath can be beneficial, but who has time for that? Then a little while ago, I decided that it might just be worth it to see if a bath, complete with bath salts and aromatherapy candles, was as good a therapy as everyone else seems to think. So, I made sure there were no phones to disturb me, and off I went to the bathroom. Actually, I did have to round up a few things first.
I had to find the bath salts - it had been quite a while since anyone in our household had taken the time for a bath! - and then find where I had put the aromatherapy candles and the matches, and I just did this while the water was filling the bath tub. I lit the candles, turned off the electric light, and the room was transformed into a relaxing spa! For some fifteen minutes I was able to relax in the hot water, take in the scents of the aromatherapy candles, and watch the light dance around the room as the candles flickered.
I was amazed at the transformation of the room for a start. The candles really changed the atmosphere for the better. The aroma from the candles was so pleasant, and the light so relaxing that I regret not having done this before!. I've not taken the time to watch a flickering candle for a long time, and I found it to be very therapeutic. The hot water relaxed my muscles and tendons, and after just a few minutes I really did feel much more relaxed and at ease, and I actually slept much better than usual that night.
Did my work suffer as a result of the fifteen minutes of "me" time? Not at all. In fact I think it benefited since I slept better, and was able to function better the next day. Was it expensive? Not at all, just a few bath salts, and a few aromatherapy candles that will last for a few more bath times yet. Did the world fall apart while I was unavailable? Not at all. Everything was just as I left it! Was there a benefit for the members of the household? Definitely, a relaxed female, is always preferable to a highly stressed individual! Will I repeat the process? Definitely, in fact I think today on my trip to the grocery store, I shall pick up some more aromatherapy candles so I can have a choice each day, and I suggest you do the same. Taking a time out with aromatherapy candles is definitely the way to go! Enjoy!

Bath Lift
What is a Bath Lift?

There is nothing like a relaxing bath, but if you suffer from mobility related problems it can very easily turn into a very stressful experience. This is because it can be very hard for the elderly and those with disabilities to enter and exit the bath tub. This is in part due to the fact that in order to take a bath you must in essence navigate a foot high fence and then lay down on the ground. Of course you're not really jumping a fence or lying down on the ground, but the motions are similar. This can be so hard that many people do not take baths and instead only take showers. Still others hire someone or rely on family members to help them bath, which in and of itself can be very hard on the back if you have ever tried to lift someone off of the ground. This is no longer necessary with the aid of a bath lift.

A bath lift is designed to make taking a bath much easier, and for many makes it possible to take a bath independently. Most bath lifts are chairs that are secured to the floor of the bath tub. These chairs actually raise the distance of the bath tub and back down to make entry and exit of the bath tub much easier. Some swivel 180 degrees so that user can turn the chair to exit or enter the bath tub. Other models utilize a flat bench like chair so that it is a breeze to slide on and off the chair. Most bench models also recline and are not completely flat but have a slight incline on either side. These units generally require very little installation. It is usually not necessary to do any drilling into the bath tub either as these units attach to the bath tub floor with highly secure suction cups.
Many quality bath lifts are available on the market. They generally use a rechargeable battery to lift and lower the seated individual into the bath tubs. The modern battery operated bath lift is very safe and a generally these units will not operate unless there is sufficient charge to both lower and raise the seated individual. Extra batteries can be purchased and if you are in an area with an unreliable power supply or one with frequent blackouts this may be a good accessory for you.
While the majority of these units are battery powered there are some exceptions to this rule. There is one innovative bath lift on the market that uses water power to do its lifting. It can lift up to 200 pounds and has a 21 inch max seat height. These units easily attach to the shower or tub spout with included hardware. When you are ready to raise the seat it is just a matter of turning the control valve to 'up'. When you are ready to descend into your bath tub just turn the control valve to 'down.' The rate of descent can be set as well so you can find the perfect lowering speed.
If you bath time is no longer a relaxing and comforting time then it is probably time to consider getting a bath lift. Bath lifts can make it possible to take a shower again and to easily get in and out of the bath tub by your self.
