Power of SPA

The Power of SPA
By Shannon Bednowicz

For thousands of years, since Roman baths, spas have helped people escape their stress and recover. The ultimate in pampering. You hear about the celebrities visiting this spa or that spa in California or Florida. You've seen the mud baths, the steam rooms, and the cucumber slices.

Avalon Spa

Total well-being is more than just escaping stress. It is giving yourself permission to take care of you. Many people today, especially busy women, simply do not afford themselves this luxury. Today, we are busier than ever, under more pressure than ever as women to do more, be more, have more.

Give yourself permission to relax. Exhale. Really, do it now. Stop everything you are doing while you are reading this, and just be still for a moment and exhale. Feel the release?

Make an appointment with yourself. Your family deserves the best of you, and if you are tired, run down and out of energy, you simply don't have it to give to them. Let go of the guilt and the shame. Stop feeling like you're stealing from someone else when you do for yourself.

Fill a bath, or find a comfy chair in a corner, light a candle, grab a glass of wine or a cup of tea and a book or magazine.

Make your own spa in your home. Give yourself an escape from everything once in a while. If you can't make your appointment with yourself every week, at least make it once a month.

You deserve it!

Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa

Penang is a state in Malaysia, located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia by the Strait of Malacca. Penang is the second smallest state in Malaysia after Perlis, and the eighth most populous. A resident of Penang is colloquially known as a Penangite.

Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa
By Mary Gostelow

This iconic resort, on Penang Island, off the Malaysian coast, reopened September 28th after a 21-month rehab, much needed after 33 years of action.

Chi Spa Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa

I wanted to check out the 'love of life and its pleasures' that Rasa Sayang means, but the usual one-night stand had to be extended since I arrived at 10pm and left at 6.30am. As my car drew up after the 45 minute ride from the airport, I was met by a posse of absolutely charming employees and taken upstairs to room 2522, on the fifth - top - floor. May we take your photo? Gosh, how would this look, after such a long day.

Once alone, I quickly ordered room service, unpacked and, hey presto, dinner arrived. For a simple salad and pasta request I got a wheeled table with white china and crispest white linens, highlighted by an old-gold ikat mat that matched the orchids. The napkin was stylishly folded through a striped shell napkin ring. Dishes were covered metal hats that could have been designed by Philippe Starck - and the al dente penne, liberally covered in what seemed like a no-calorie 'cream' soy sauce with baby asparagus bits, was totally delicious. Designer baths, hinting at the elixir of youth and wellness, are complimentary, and a rose petal and pink French clay special had been drawn in the marble bathtub that was sexily out on my balcony. I slunk into it, hoping there were no Peeping Toms around, wallowed marvellously, and collapsed into bed.

In the morning I had a good look around my room, a 680 sq ft Premier category in the Rasa Wing, the super-luxury category of what is now a 304-room resort. The space flows, from marble foyer to marble bathroom, with one glass wall (with blind) looking into the bed part of the main room, which is divided by a ten-foot work desk with lots of electric sockets and speedy wired broadband - there is wireless in public areas, including gardens. The bed is like a mass of white clouds, its bed head a wall of silk panels in the room's colours, namely golds, persimmon, soft brown. The mini bar comes with a blue martini shaker, the wall-set flat-screen is Philips, the safe has a little box for jewellery, and the notepaper has my name on it. Light switches are all labelled (someone has a lot of common sense, here).

Through the all-glass wall fronting the terrace, I could now see how fabulous the grounds are. Nine of the trees on the total-30 acre estate are protected rainforest species, apparently over a century old. The newly-landscaped walkways and immaculate lawns include a circular arena for weddings. The wing has its own curvilinear salt-water pool - down one S-shaped wall, you can swim past 27 small horizontal water jets into a water protruberance (like the sticking out part of a jigsaw piece) which is a vitality pool. Beyond are shady lawns with wood lounge chairs and tables. Beach concierges bring you discreet wireless bells: ring, and someone comes running, or perhaps cycling, to take your order. Beyond this is the sandy beach, which from later this month will have a full dive centre.

My wake-up run took me around all this, and the executive (that is to say bijou) golf course, and pair of tennis courts, and the neighbouring, more-casual, Garden wing of the hotel. I looked back up at the Rasa wing's roofs, each of which is built in typical Minangkabau style, like two big open books, spine up, the whole then sprayed with dark brown paint. I admired the clever layout of balconies which means no-one can in fact see anyone having their outdoor baths.

The theatre-style breakfast buffet, in Spice Market, was copious, with fabulous juices-to order, and Greek-type home made yogurt and exotic fruits. There is Malay hot if you want it, or Chinese, English, Japanese, or anything: all serving stations are decorated with mammoth sculptures of brightly-coloured spices from a local merchant. There is a good gym but most guests, who were predominantly European during my stay, prefer to spend the day outside, being energetic but in the main lounging in a private area somewhere in the grounds. This is a resort to get lost in, if you want. Rasa guests can also lounge in their lobby, which serves complimentary-everything day and evening long. There are 550 employees for the whole resort, and every one seems to know every guest's name: perhaps the arrival photos are used as aide-memoirs.

It was fortunate that I had a reservation at CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, which appears to be doing thriving business from both sexes. Even getting there is an experience. You hardly realise there is a winding meter-wide walkway that, shielded by a tall bamboo walls, wraps around that curvilinear pool. After 60 steps I found myself in a ten-sided Tibetan house, topped by a giant bell. I was led to Namshe, one of 11 'homes' in the adjacent 'spa village'. Inside, a foyer led to full bathroom one side, the treatment room the other. Beyond, shielded by an eight foot stone wall and more bamboo, was an outdoor tub for two. My feet were washed, my face was treated, my feet massaged while the mask set. Delicate bells awoke me (a treatment is a great place for a quick shut-eye).

Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa

Back in my room, butler Syed had returned my laundry, in a big brown leather box, with interior compartments, each laundered item individually wrapped in crisp tissue paper. The bowl of whole fruits, under a gauze hat, had been replenished. It was time for dinner at the Feringgi Grill, where couples seemingly anonymous by day have been transformed by smart-casual shirts for him and mostly sleeveless-long frocks and quite a lot of jewellery (hers). Walls here are old bricks, the carpet cranberry, table linens white. Add candelabra bearing three twisted gold candles, and mottled green display mats produced by a local glass blower, and view into the night garden or, looking in, across to the kitchen. There is lots of table-side service, with real flambés performed with theatrical panache. Regulars head straight for the beef, mostly Australian. 60% opt for the kobe-style wagyu, which is three times the price of merely grain-fed. Rasa Sayang attracts the value-seeking connoisseur rather than the quality-less penny-pincher.

My bed had been turned down, and my photo, taken the previous night, stood in a souvenir leather frame with the hotel's name on it. Clever. No wonder there are so many repeat guests here. The night was all too short, room service breakfast arrived with enough of that yogurt to keep centenarians living for many more decades. Downstairs, still pre-dawn, GM Arbind Shrestha - surely the only Nepalese-American GM in the ultra-luxury hotels industry - waited. Well, he said, I am a hotelier. This is my job, and passion. Butler Syed was also there, and he came with me all the way back to the airport.

I cannot wait to return to 'love of life and its pleasures'. http://www.shangri-la.com/

Weight Loss Spa

While most people can lose a few pounds over a week's stay with Weight Loss Spa, don't expect anything more dramatic that would be unhealthy, not to mention unpleasant.

Discover The Benefits Of A Weight Loss Spa
By Lee Dobbins

Weight loss spas are places where people can have a relaxing holiday whilst they learn how to eat healthily and what exercise is good for them. The focus at these spas is on the physical health and well being of the people who visit them. As well as providing these people with an education in regarding to their habits and changes that they need to make to their life’s in order to help control their weight once their trip to the spa has ended. Weight loss spas are different from weight loss programs and boot camps as they generally do not follow trendy diets but instead set up programs which will help people to lose weight naturally and healthily as well as helping them to keep the weight off.

Weight Loss Spa
Photo: springgardenspa.com

One a person first visits a weight loss spa they will have a meeting first with a weight loss counselor. This person will evaluate and decide upon the necessary measures that will need to be taken in order for the visitor to lose weight healthily. When the counselor is evaluating the person they will consider their family history, what body type the person is and any medical issues they may have. In some cases these counselors will inform the person that their weight loss goals are unrealistic for they body type and it is often these unrealistic goals that set people up for failure when dieting.

At a weight loss spa you will offered fitness classes, cooking and dieting classes as well as meditative activities. These classes teach people how to limit their fat and sugar intake when preparing meals at home without making them bland. The fitness classes offered by these spas vary from one spa to another but in general they focus on fitness which people will find fun to participate in. Many more people are likely to pursue a fitness regime on leaving a spa if they have enjoyed participating in it whilst there. At a weight loss spa the types of fitness activities they include are golf, hiking, horse riding, tennis and swimming as well as many others.

Most weight loss spas teach their clients about different and alternative ways of improving their weight loss chances by taking Vitamins or drinking herbal teas. These can help guests to improve their digestive system, heal damaged cells as well as encouraging the body to absorb vitamins but at the same time removing toxins and bacteria from it.

Generally weight loss spas offer their clients classes in yoga and other similar kinds of activities as yoga can not only help improve your posture, but will reduce stress and improve the circulation of blood around the body.

But perhaps the best benefit of a weight loss spa is that there is a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere for those that visit one. As a visit to a weight loss spa is a holiday more people are likely to repeat the activities they took part in even when they go home and this will lead to a greater chance of them achieving diet success.

Lee Dobbins writes for http://www.lowcarb-resource.com/ where you can get great dieting tips and learn more about healthy weight loss.

Spa Treatments in Israel

Israel is a country in Western Asia located on the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea. It borders Lebanon in the north, Syria in the northeast, Jordan in the east, and Egypt on the southwest, and contains geographically diverse features within its relatively small area. The West Bank and Gaza Strip are also adjacent. With a population of about 7.28 million, the majority of whom are Jews, Israel is the world's only Jewish state. It is also home to Arabs, Muslims, Christians, Druze, and Samaritans, as well as other religious and ethnic minority groups.

Spa Treatments For Couples Popular in Israel
By Judith Isaacson

The latest phenomenon to reach Israel’s spa culture, is Couples Spa. There are a few variations on this theme. One type of treatment is where the couple share a massage therapy room, and on separate treatment beds, each person receives a massage - whether that be shiatsu, Swedish, hot stone massage, aromatherapy, Thai massage, or the Indian massage, Ayurveda. The couple decide together which therapy they prefer and receive the same one from different therapists.
Interestingly enough, when I spoke with a representative of the day spa in Holmes Place, a fitness center with locations around Israel, she told me that they recommend separate treatment rooms for couples so that each person can concentrate on the massage and not think about the partner.

Israel Spa sign

Based on the belief that touch is an important element in a relationship, married couple, Yoram and Nechama, she, a former social worker and he, a former leader of parenting groups, and together the owners of The Magic of Touch, have built a business on the magic of touch for couples. Their day spa center in Bethlehem HaGlilit combines couple therapy, alternative medicine, and pampering spa treatments. On the day I visited the spa, a group of educators had taken over the premises and were experiencing treatments - not as couples - and floating in the huge jacuzzi. Located a 5-minute walk from this bed and breakfast inn, the magic of spa treatments can be combined with a touring program of the magical area of Bethlehem HaGlilit.
A day spa complex, complete with jacuzzi, tanning beds, treatment rooms, open juice bar, relaxing surroundings is in the same small village as this entrancing bed and breakfast inn. Just wander down the lane from your Morrocan style suite, and wind up in a day spa surrounded by greenery under Mount Gilboa in the Jezreel Valley.

If you prefer to spend time in the 100 year-old town of Zikhron Ya’akov, the owner of this B&B can arrange for a massage therapist to come to your bed and breakfast suite with its separate treatment room (inside the suite). From there, continue to the complex’s private swimming pool and private sauna where you are the only guests - no one else is permitted in. Alternatively, you can leave the complex and drive to the day spa in town.

Touring in Israel these days appeals to all the senses with the combination of hiking, biking, touring, tasting, and spa pampering.

Gotta go - I’m late for my facial…
http://www.drive-israel.com/, the only site for independent tourists to Israel who prefer car trips to group travel, provides resources, routes, and recommends rural lodgings to reserve along the way. Follow the tips from a spa manager of New York leading spa to know where you end and where to begin.

First, soaking in a soothing hot bath. Milk is use ful for skin as it is full of protein which help to strengthen your skin. Egg is also another good protein resource. A good way to boost protein to your skin is bathing in the egg milk bath.

The egg milk bath can be made by your own, just find eggs, olive oil, glycerin, dried milk powder, jasmine essential oil, rose essential oil, lavender essential oil, and two cups of distilled water.

First beat the eggs together, olive oil, glycerin and milk powder with a whisk or hand held beater. While beating the mix add the essential oils. Continue beating until a smooth paste forms. Add the water a little at a time, continuing to beat. Immediately add to your warm drawn bath. If the water is too hot you'll make scrambled eggs.

While soaking in the egg milk bath,to exfoliate and regenerate the skin, use scrub cream with ingredients like retinol, AHA, BHA or find the natural ingredients like tamarind or pineapple.

The scrub cream can be easily made as well. Just find fruits which contains acid like pine apple and tamarind, the beads to rub and get rid of the old cells like sesame, sugar, or salt - the sea salt is full of magnesium sulfate which help getting rid of the old cells and benefits your skin, it may be the best choice to use- and the oil to help lubricating. Mix these ingredients together and then use a loofah mitt to rub either scrub or body oil (suitable for dry skin) in circular motions all over to slough off rough –to-the touch skin , concentrating on knees, elbows, and feet.

Next, rinse off in a cool shower, which will help close pores and increase circulation, creating a fresh, rosy, head to toe skin glow.

For the face, treat it more special by a homemade face washing treatment. Mix a half-teaspoon of the salt (or sugar) with your regular cleansing cream. Massage into skin and rinse with cold water.

Once, out of the shower, rub again as your body dry. You may hold a towel in both hands, shimmy it across your back from neck to tush. This will help remove any dry skin. Also dry your arms and legs in the same way.

While skin is still a little damp, slather yourself with body lotion or oil to seal in moisture.

Do you want great skin?

The skin care for body should contain the same ingredients as the hydrating molecules in our skin such as Sodium Pyrollidone Carboxylic Acid – the well known one is Sodium PCA which is a natural moisture factor and ceramides. It help locking the moisture in the body

New trends in Spa industry

Hotels and resorts are increasingly adding do-it-yourself spa facilities from pool circuits to mud stations where guests can slather themselves with the stuff. There are many Spa trends.

Upcoming Spa Trends
By Rohan Mistry

A spa, as known to us today, is a centre for treatments through various alternate medications, and has grown to include relaxation, unwinding and getting pampered. It has now become the hub of social mingling where we also try to catch up on the personal touch in our otherwise unconnected lifestyles. Each passing year has seen new trends emerging in the spa industry. So lets have a look at the upcoming ones.

Spa Trend
Photo: media.canada.com

Home or mobile spas

With people living life king-size, home spas are the next big thing on the scene. Thanks to personal bathrooms becoming more equipped – with hydro therapeutic showers, tubs and glass tiles - to cater to the needs of spa goers, people like spas coming to them instead of the other way round.

Infusion of zest for life

Whacky teenagers and growing adolescents need to be educated about healthful food, fitness, exercise and alternate medicine. Indulging them in a spa treatment could well trigger off the inception of a healthy lifestyle that would take them a long way. Hence parents pamper their kids with a spa experience.

Hospital spas

A hospital, after all, is a treatment centre. Integrating the alternative therapies of spas with the conventional allopathic treatments can speed up recovery in patients. Reasonable, quick spa treatments offered at the bedside of a patient initiate the patient towards better health, by relieving stress and raising spirits. Reflexology techniques used in the massage of particular parts heal specific areas of the deteriorating body. Manicures and pedicures making use of healing creams along with bedside hair wash and styling, and makeup application make the patient feel pampered and wanted. But having said this, it is necessary to keep the costs at a bare minimum to make these treatments affordable to patients.

Theme spas

People are preferring themes in almost everything that they indulge in. Be it parks, gardens or parties, theme is the way to go. So why not theme spas? Themed venues allow consumers to forget everyday worries and indulge themselves. This trend definitely cannot be overlooked.

Resort spas or retreat spas.

Destination spas are not new. For long, they have been conducting special week-wise seminars in various wellness categories such as yoga, ayurveda, special medical conditions such as arthritis etc. More resort spas will come up to cater to clients who need a getaway or a short break form everyday life. This trend will continue to garner support from patrons.

Fusion Spas

Spas that offer a mélange of trusted treatments are the next big thing. Some fusion treatments that have already found their way into spas are watsu (water and shiatsu), yogalates (yoga and pilates), and Thai massage (yoga and massage). Experts are expected to come up with a blend of more such treatments to enable clients reap benefits of all of them together.

Genuine spas

Spas that are deeply rooted in the local culture and traditions will see increased clients. Like Indian spas that offer authentic oil or herbal massages that have been practiced in the countryside since many years or spas offering wellness packages seeped in traditional therapies.

Spas for men

Men comprise of a large chunk of regular spa visitors. They are particular about visiting a spa during travel, mostly for relaxation. Spas meant to cater to their needs will boom in the coming years, realizing the importance of retaining their large customer base.

Beauty through nature

With more and more people realizing the importance of inner beauty, spas offering beauty treatments through herbs, good foods or clinically enhanced products will rise. Spas will need to shun chemical and synthetic cosmetic products and focus on naturally found ingredients on various treatments.

Better spa cuisine

Days of spas that offer or recommend bland, distasteful food are numbered. Attempts at making the food colorful, along with making it smell great will be definitely appreciated by clients. At the same time, spas should not lose focus on the nutritional value of this food.

Detoxing spas

Getting rid of all the toxins inside the body through treatments at a spa will be among the major reasons for people to visit them. Lifestyle induced stress, bad eating habits, irregular sleep and deteriorating ecology have their toll on the body. Spas offering detox solutions - be it through diet, bonding, or sweating - will see a major client turnover.

Spa Treatments

Spa Treatments Are More Than Just A Luxury
By Martin McAllister

In the last few decades, the concept of a spa treatment has undergone a widespread revolution, both in America and the rest of the world. While spas were once seen as the domain of only the rich and famous, today a variety of people see attending a day spa or a spa holiday as a wonderfully relaxing and rewarding way to spend their time and money. Moreover, spa breaks have become less of a female-only domain, with more men now indulging in the luxury that spa treatments provide.

JW Marriott Resort Las Vegas

Traditionally, the name "spa" comes from the town of Spa in Belgium, which is famous for its hot thermal baths (balneotherapy) and mineral water treatments (hydrotherapy). While spa towns have historically been concentrated in Europe, hot springs in the USA have acquired similar importance for spa treatments, as their high mineral content is especially suitable for hydrotherapy. Modern day spas, however, incorporate a wide range of body treatments, including a wide variety of facials, massages, body wraps, aromatherapy and even yoga or meditation classes.

Spa massages are a common treatment enjoyed by people visiting day spas or on spa holidays. Spa massages rely on more than the simple practice of applying pressure to the body's muscles and tissues. Instead, these types of massages are much more complex in character, with visitors to spas being able to choose from a wide-ranging list of massages that offer different benefits. The treatment of Myofascial Release, for example, involves the freeing of fascial muscles, while neuromuscular therapy is used for pain relief and specific problems with structural and postural imbalances. Spa massages can also incorporate a wide range of national massage techniques: for instance, petrissage is an important form of the Swedish massage technique, while 'Lomilomi' is an ancient form of massage based on traditional methods employed by Hawaiian healing specialists.

Spa treatments are as much a beneficial activity for medical and healing reasons as they are for fun and indulging in a bit of relaxation. Of late, spa locations and spa hotels have become venues for spa parties or spa dates and also offer a sophisticated way to spend a bachelorette or ‘hen’ party for brides-to-be. Many spas even offer a "Couple's Treatment", so that a couple can indulge in the fantastic releases of spa treatments together. Moreover, spa gift certificates are becoming popular; so if you haven’t indulged in a spa treatment yet, what are you waiting for? The benefits - both physically and emotionally - could be endless.

Choosing a Spa Vacation

Things to Think About When Choosing a Spa Vacation
By Darlene Berkel

With the different kinds of spa vacations available and the differing programs they offer it's important to ask yourself a few things, and to make sure you answer those questions honestly.
Why are you taking a spa vacation? Are you looking to relax, learn to eat healthy, exercise or get pampered?

The Gift of Spa

Many spas cover all of those reasons, but you'll have better luck getting exactly what you want if you take a spa vacation at one whose programs cater specifically to one or a few of the needs you're looking to fulfill. For example, destination spas tend to work more towards helping guests learn to eat healthy and exercise right with a series of fitness and cooking classes while spas nestled in resorts, often called resort spas, cater more towards relaxing and being pampered.

What Kinds of Vacation Activities Are You Interested In?

If you're looking for more to do than just work towards a healthier sense of well-being a resort spa might be a better spa vacation for you. There are a number of destination spas that do offer on-site golfing or tennis, as well as near-by access to hiking, fishing, museums and other cultural activities as well, though. Before setting up a spa vacation, check the local area for other activities you might like if you don't think you'll be focusing solely on what your spa has to offer.

Will You Be Traveling With a Friend, A Spouse, or Alone?

When traveling alone it can be easier to determine where to go, but a like-minded friend or spouse can help motivate you and keep you on the right track. If there is anyone joining you on your spa vacation that might not be interested in the activities a spa has to offer, it's recommended that you look into a resort spa where there is plenty of other things to do. That way you can get the relaxation you need without worrying as much about your traveling companion(s) being bored.

Would You Prefer a Scheduled Spa Vacation, or Would You Prefer To Set Your Own Schedule?

Destination spas often offer a set program of activities and classes specifically designed to improve health through diet, exercise and healthy thinking. If you're more the sort to rebel against scheduling and go do your own thing, you might prefer a resort spa where you have more freedom to come and go as you please without interrupting others. A benefit to a set schedule while on a spa vacation, however, is that it can help keep you on track and focused on what you came to the spa to accomplish in the first place.

What Type of Scenery Do You Prefer?

If you head to a destination spa out in the mountains but aren't fond of heights, cool breezes and thinner air then it's quite likely that you won't enjoy yourself as much as you would have if a spa vacation with an ocean setting had been chosen instead. Setting can be important to many people when it comes to relaxing, because if you can't relax with the scenery surrounding you then you're likely to either be unable to concentrate on that relaxing massage or fitness class, or get more irritated with the world in general. The more you like your location, the more chance that spa vacation has a chance to work its magic on you.

How Long of a Vacation Did You Plan to Take?

If you only have a day or two to wash away your stresses try looking into a resort spa, as shortest programs at destination spas tend to last a full week. Day Spa's offer a variety of professionally administered spa services to clients on a day-use basis. A day spa is a form of beauty salon for your entire body! So even if you only plan to take a "day away" there is a day spa that is right for you.

Destination spa's are resorts for personal care treatments. The primary purpose of destination spa's is guiding individual spa-goers to develop healthy habits. While a week or two at a dedicated destination spa might do more for you than a simple day-trip would it's still good to take what you can get when trying to deal with the stresses of our modern-day world. After all, even in our modern world this saying applies: "an ounce of prevention is still worth a pound of cure"!

Homemade Spa Treatments

Homemade Spa Treatments help you relax and take care of yourself. Just read this article for your relaxation at home.

Homemade Spa Treatments – A Great Way To Escape The Winter Blues
By Susanne Myers

Are you getting a little tired of this cold wet weather and long for warm and sunny summer days? Chase those winter blues away with a day spend pampering yourself with some homemade spa treatments. Not only will it lift your spirit, but it will also do wonders to your skin. Being stuck inside with the heat turned on can dry out the skin and wearing layers of thick, long clothing adds to the damage. Take some time this week to pamper yourself, right at home.

Spalook 468x60

You don’t need to go to a fancy spa to get some luxurious spa treatments. You can make them right in your own kitchen. Pamper yourself alone, or invite a friend over for a girl’s spa day. You can even throw a little spa party with a few of your closest girlfriends. Give each other pedicures and manicures along with a homemade facial mask, while you catch up on what’s been going on in each of your lives. Finish your spa day with a light dinner and a chick flick.

Lift your winter blues away with a citrus bath soak. To make this homemade spa treatment, combine 3 cups of sea salt with 1 cup of powdered milk. In a separate bowl, combine the slices of one orange and one lemon with a few drops each of orange and lemon essential oil. Add the fruit mixture to the salt mixture and stir well. Run a warm bath, and then add some of the citrus mixture to the bath. Step in and soak in this refreshing citrus mixture that’s sure to lift your spirits.

If your hair and skin feel dry, give them a little extra attention with a hair mask and a salt or sugar scrub for your skin. Since things can get a little mess with those, grab your CD or mp3 player with some summer music and head for the bathroom. Apply the salt scrub while you are standing in the shower and rinse off when you are done. Don’t forget to follow it with a good moisturizer, preferably with a scent that reminds you of summer, like a lotion with cocoa butter in it. The salt scrub will get rid of any dead cells and leave your skin feeling smooth and soft.
For a simple hair mask, mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Apply it to your clean, damp hair. Cover your hair with some plastic wrap and allow the mixture to soak in for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse the mixture out and shampoo and style as usual.

Florida Spa Vacation Resorts to Try
By Darlene Berkel

Florida spas tend to get busy during the winter months as people try to escape the chilly weather of their home and ease away holiday stress, so if you want to take a spa vacation in Florida, be sure to book early to give yourself a much better chance at getting what you want. During the summer months rates on spa vacations in this balmy state tend to drop; the thought of spending time in saunas and warm spas becoming unappealing to many with the already muggy weather.

Florida, one of the vacation capital of the world, is one of the most exciting locations in the world to have a treatment; if you ever had an urge to splurge on a spa, this would be the place to do it. Florida is one of the premier destinations for those looking for a variety of spa treatments. A trip to the spa is a common travel activity enjoyed by all vacationers who need to be "pampered" at least for a day.

Florida has some of the best spas in North America. Visits to the spa seem to be on the agenda of almost every visitor to this sunshine city, and for a reason. Like the hotels that host them, the spas within these establishments offer an excellent ambiance and an unforgettable experience.

Ritz-Carlton, Naples
This resort spa is located on Florida's southwest coast and offers a range of activities with heated swimming pools, lit tennis courts, a fitness center, and a spa complex spanning over 50,000 square feet. A Florida spa vacation destination that pampers its guests all day, this Old World-style resort is surrounded by three miles of pristine beaches and manicured gardens, as well as stone fountains and courtyards. Tours of the art collections and antiques in the lobby are provided by the concierge staff upon request and guests can choose from a number of signature treatments, including the Feast of Flowers Soaking Bath Ritual.

For those looking for a small break from the indulgent relaxation of the spa and its activities, downtown Naples is no more than 30 minutes away by car, and presents a number of shopping and dining locations. This Florida spa vacation spot is home to at least seven restaurants itself, each containing an exceptional variety of dishes to try.

Doral Golf Resort and Spa
The Health Spa at Doral offers fitness services, facial skin care, body treatments, hydro treatments, as well as massage therapy and over 100 other services. For the feel of a vacation at this Florida spa you can let the warm sun melt the stress away as you lounge by the pool, or try your hand at one of the five golf courses on site with lessons offered regularly.

Tennis is another popular activity, and can be enjoyed day or night on one of the 11 courts available and if you opt to book your Florida spa vacation here in suite you'll be treated to your own personal wet bar, entertainment system and Jacuzzi for further relaxation at any hour. Outside of the spa you'll find South Beach is nearby and the nightclubs stay open all night, so if you need to work off some extra energy the bubbling Jacuzzi couldn't lull away, feel free to dance until dawn.

Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne
Almost two dozen treatment rooms are scattered along this 20 thousand square-foot Florida spa vacation resort that offers treatments unique to the Ritz-Carlton of Key Biscayne such as the Everglades Grass Body Wrap and the Key Lime Coconut Body Scrub. Daily fitness classes such as Tai Chi, Pilates and Hatha Yoga are available for guests to participate in, or you can choose to head out to the Tennis Garden, designed by resident pro, Cliff Drysdale.

While you unwind with one of the several activities available to you during this Florida spa vacation your little ones can spend a half or full day out on events organized by trained staff members such as pirate treasure hunts, shell finding, and art classes. There are many more Florida spa vacation options available, but these should provide a decent starter base to work from as you hunt for that perfect relaxing getaway.

Visit http://honeymoon.every1loves2travel.com/ and start planning your honeymoon getaway today. We also recommend http://www.on-a-cruise.com/ to find out how to cruise around the world the fun way.

Mineral Baths

Miracle of the Mineral Baths
By Susan Gans

As far back as 73 B.C., hot springs or mineral baths have served as places for health and rejuvenation. King Herod, Roman King of Judea, created one of the world's first health resorts on the Dead Sea. Queen Cleopatra built a cosmetics and pharmaceutical factory there. During the Roman Empire, nearly every city had access to mineral baths which were used for public bathing, exercise and socializing. From the United Kingdom to Germany to Algeria, bath houses could be found.

The world famous Baden-Baden hot springs in Germany have drawn visitors for centuries. Situated along the Oos River, Baden-Baden has welcomed the ancient Romans, England's Queen Victoria, and contemporary visitors of all means. Considered some of the most elegant bathing houses in Europe, Baden-Baden is created by some 29 hot springs, which are transferred through pipes to various baths in the city. Patients still come today to seek relief from gout, paralysis, skin diseases and more.

Native Americans recognized the healing powers of the mineral baths, believing that they were a special gift to the people from a Great Spirit. All of these early spa-goers of the day found the mineral essential baths were effective for treating a range of ailments, including psoriasis, acne, rheumatism and indigestion. Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto came across the Valley of Vapors in the early 1500s. He was one of the first Europeans to discover the curative powers of what is now known as Hot Springs, Arkansas.

DeSoto was just one of many who would come to discover these magical thermal springs, from which was formed the Hot Springs National Park. Termed "The American Spa," Hot Springs has a rich history and others soon followed. Another American classic, the Roosevelt Bathhouse in Saratoga Springs, New York, drew sophisticated travelers in the 1800s for a soak in its soothing mineral waters. Part of the Gideon Putnam Resort, guests believe the waters offer preventative benefits and that using the mineral springs assists in reducing stress and strengthening the body's overall functioning.

These waters also gave rise as well to playgrounds for the rich and famous. Nearly a century ago, V.I.P. guests traveled by railcar to Mount Clemens, Michigan, or "America's Bath City" to experience the magical mineral waters there. Pumped from 1,400 feet beneath the city, the waters of Mount Clemens were enjoyed by the likes of Henry Ford, William Randolph Hearst and Babe Ruth. The baths were known to relieve the pain of arthritis, rheumatism and eczema. It was also a Mecca for polio patients. The thriving therapeutic industry was supported by 11 major bath houses and dozens of resort hotels within the city.

Opened during the Gilded Age, the West Baden Springs Hotel in French Lick, Indiana, sported a fantastic domed ceiling that was considered the "Eighth Wonder of the World." A National Historic Landmark, West Baden's reputation as a mineral springs resort drew guests from all over the U.S. to relax and take the cure. A 2007 renovation included a 27,000-square-foot spa facility featuring full-body capsules with the famous mineral water that has made West Baden Springs an undeniable first-class resort.

Mineral springs have also given rise to innovative body treatments. For instance, at the Harbin Hot Springs in Middleton, California, therapist Harold Dull developed Watsu, which is a combination of Zen shiatsu with water. Warm and inviting natural spring pools are located through the 2,000-acre property. The Homestead of Hot Springs, Virginia, first welcomed Thomas Jefferson who found bathing in its waters three times a day for three weeks a restorative measure. Today's guests can still "take the waters" while also indulging in luxury spa treatments.

Geologix Inc. manufactures products using a proprietary formula featuring 34 natural minerals contained in the ancient sea water from the famous Michigan Basin -- a concentration of minerals higher than that found in any known body of water in the world. Mineral Essentials focuses on spa, skin care, and massage products to moisturize and provide anti-aging protection for great skin. Aspira Spa

Aspira Spa is part of the Osthoff Resort, a luxury destination on the shores of Elkhart Lake in southeast Wisconsin. The spa emphasizes holistic and organic modalities, as evidenced by the feng-shui influenced design of the 20,000-square-foot facility as well as the incorporation of Asian concepts and alternative therapies into spa treatments.

The alternative-therapy focus of the spa is not confined to the aforementioned suite experiences, however. The toning and hydrating Yin Yang Osmosis Facial can be tailored to either sex according to Asian-inspired concepts of yin and yang. The 90-minute Aspira Chroma Facial integrates chromatherapy, lymphatic drainage, and pressure point massage into a results-oriented treatment that is offered as an individual service or as part of a series.
